Ferruccio Furlanetto is an Italian contemporary bass singer working in an international context, mainly in Italy (Teatro alla Scala) and in the USA.
A complete artist thanks to his voice and theatre skills, he combines his great vocal talents with fundamental qualities such as perfect intonation, warm and soft emission, clear diction in French, German and Russian in addition to Italian, as well as appropriate acting and well-gauged style.
His repertoire includes late-baroque compositions and relatively modern operas, with parts of bass-baritone (as in his famous interpretation of The Marriage of Figaro by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart), and with roles of profound bass (such as in Sparafucile in Rigoletto, the Great Inquisitor in Don Carlos). In Salzburg, when he was directed by Herbert von Karajan, he portrayed demanding roles in works by Verdi and Mozart. He also worked under the direction of Abbado, Giulini, Levine, Maazel and Muti. He is actively recording music, as well as starring in videos, cinema and TV. He was awarded the San Marco Prize in 1989.
