Gregory Privat: piano
«All the elements of Caribbean music are present in me». The French-Martinican pianist Gregory Privat synthesizes his musical style in balance between different influences. After ten years of classical piano training, Privat began to compose and improvise: jazz became his musical home.
Stable pianist in Lars Danielsson’s Liberetto line-up, Gregory Privat has released six works under his own name: in January 2022 he released his new album, “Yonn” which means “Uno” in Creole and is his first solo piano album. In the 11 tracks it offers an intimate music that draws inspiration from its Caribbean culture but also from classical music and jazz, combining the notes of the piano to the voice.
In 2023 Gregory received the Prix Adami “L’Artiste à suivre” at the Nuit des Artistes, alongside Fatoumata Diawara, Sandrine Bonnaire and Vincent Lindon.
