Manou Gallo is the “Afro Groove Queen”. This is the title of his fourth album released in 2018, featuring big names like Bootsy Collins, Chuck D and Manu Dibango. And from that moment on this is the name of the original Ivorian bassist who has been living in Belgium for some time. Made her bones playing in various African countries, Manou Gallo arrived in Europe in 1997.
For 6 years she became the bassist of Zap Mama, the band of Marie Daulne, and performed on the biggest European and American stages. Since 2003 he has been a leading band and participates in many other projects (Manou Gallo Women Band, Groove Orchestra, Acoustic Africa and Music Machine). With her charismatic stage presence and incredible slapping bass technique, of which she is the absolute master, she has become one of the leading exponents of Afro-European music.
She was nominated for Best African Artist of the Diaspora at the TAMANI/Mali Music Trophies. Her fifth album, Aliso, divided into 2 EPs, celebrates all the African artists who inspired her, from Fela Kuti to Manu Dibango, from Franco to Ernesto Djé Djé and Marcellin Yacé.
