Wolfgang Haffner is an excellent drummer, known not only in the jazz scene: the numerous prominent national and international collaborations speak for themselves.
Today, the two-time ECHO Jazz Award winner is undoubtedly the best-known German drummer, and, at the same time, one of the few German musicians who has also globally successful. He has played in 3500 concerts in 100 countries, on all continents. The list of musicians with Haffner has toured and recorded with is almost endless: Al Jarreau, Chaka Khan, Pat Metheny, Gregory Porter, Jan Garbarek, Nils Landgren, Till Brönner, Esbjörn Svensson, The Brecker Brothers, Bill Evans, Bob James, Die Fantastischen Vier, Thomas Quasthoff, Albert Mangelsdorff, Konstantin Wecker, Klaus Doldinger, to name but a few.
Like many of the best musicians, however, Wolfgang Haffner was not satisfied with just playing the drums, because he started composing and producing from the beginning of his career. He has produced artists such as Max Mutzke and the Icelandic fusion band Mezzoforte. Haffner has also released 18 albums under his name so far.
In Sacile, Wolfgang Haffner presents his new project “Haffner plays Haffner“, in which only his compositions will be listened to in completely revisited arrangements. For this special project, he brought two outstanding musicians from the German jazz scene into the band, Simon Oslender and Thomas Stieger.
