The relic of Saint Nicholas, patron saint of the community, arrives in Sacile.
This is the third stage of the Peregrinatio sancti Nicolai began last December 4 when it left the church of San Nicolò in Venice Lido, where it is kept.
Brought on a fluvial pilgrimage from the lagoon to Livenza river, through the southern territory of the diocese, the relic stopped at the cathedral of Motta di Livenza and, after two months, in Brugnera, from where it leaves for Sacile on Saturday. During 2022 the saint’s relic will be brought also to all the parishes of the diocese named after him; in Sacile it will be exposed to the faithful until March 12.
Program of the day
15.15 in San Giovanni di Livenza: arrival of the relic from Brugnera.
15.30 Departure on foot, from the parking next to the primary school Dante Alighieri, with destination Sacile, via Cavolano, Schiavoi, Topaligo, roundabout of S. Odorico, Via Ponte Lacchin, Via Balliana.
16.40 Arrival in Via Balliana. Stop to organize the parade and gather all people waiting.
Departure towards Piazza del Popolo (through Via Balliana and Via Mazzini).
17.00 Placing of the Relic under the Loggia of the Town Hall in the presence of the Mayor with the Banner of the City of Sacile and civil and military authorities.
Musical moment with the Filarmonica Sacilese.
Speeches by the Mayor Carlo Spagnol, the Bishop’s Delegate, the Councillor Ruggero Spagnol, the parish priest Don Gianluigi Papa.
On the notes of the Philharmonic, preparation for the procession to the Duomo.
17.30 – Departure of the procession to the Duomo, through Via della Pietà. Placing of the Relic under the altarpiece of St. Nicholas and veneration of the same. Time of personal prayer of the faithful.
18.00 – Solemn Vespers.
18.30 – St. Solemn Mass, in the presence of civil and military authorities, presided over by the Bishop’s Delegate.
