It is called Dolce Livenza, it has been for years the typical dessert of the pubs of Sacile and it is a forebear of the Tiramisù!! His name is linked to the river that embraces the city, we do not know who the inventor is, his recipe was passed on in the city from mother to daughter…
We chatted with Sandra, who still keeps grandma Catina’s recipe, leafed through her old family recipe books with her and fell in love with it! The ingredients?
Eggs, sugar, cream (yes, at that time we did not know so much about mascarpone), coffee, espresso, sponge fingers or sponge cake, a little cognac or rum and a sprinkling of cocoa. A real delight!
At Palazzo Ragazzoni, nosing around the rooms, we came across a character from another time: Giacomo Ragazzoni.
In the second half of the sixteenth century, he chose Sacile as the place of his family house and it is here that we discover the saga of the Earls Ragazzoni between court intrigues, business and diplomacy: it is all told by the frescoes of the Hall of the Emperors!
In Sacile, in 1957 a 2.60 meters high statue is placed on the spire of the bell tower, thanks to the intervention of a US helicopter. It is a blessing angel, work of the sculptor from Udine Max Piccini that weighs 250 kg!!
Mario shows us the video in black and white of this daring operation, which ended with a miraculous success… The chronicles of that time remind us that the entire foreign press talked about this event, we can tell you about it with the shooting taken that day!
